Send us a Concept Design for our brand new Media Production Van! Everyone is encouraged to enter! No age limits for creativity! Collaborations are the bomb! Multiple entries from the same person (or group) are welcome. The deadline has been extended to October 15.
Sketch, draw, or paint your concept of what the van should look like from the outside. Remember it has two sides and a back that we will wrap.
Your winning design will be seen at many performances, sports events, and town meetings throughout the Peninsula. Bear in mind that we will be sending the truck and staff to cover a range of community activities, performances, etc. and the public (in our service area) can even get training and record their own events! The youth we train will also cover sports events. The Media Production Van is an amazing new community resource!
The truck’s dimensions are 20′ 10″ on each side (from front to back); 7’10” (from bottom to top); and 6′ 11″ (backside). We prefer entries that take into account both sides and the back, but you can win with an entry that just covers one side from the rear edge of the driver/passenger door to the back (approximately 16′ wide by 8 ft high).
The winner(s) will receive a $100 gift certificate and a free (transferable) video production, video editing, or storytelling workshop at the Media Center. Entries will be accepted from August 1 until October 15.

Official Contest Rules::
The Media Production Van “It’s a Wrap” Design Concept Contest is open to anyone, any age. Individuals, teams, friends, parents and children with diverse skills are encouraged to enter. The focus of the It’s a Wrap Design Contest is purposefully broad in scope in order to encourage a wide and varied ‘range of perspectives’.
Entries proposed that have been made publicly available are deemed ineligible for consideration under the “It’s a Wrap” Design Contest competition and stated goals.
2. Contest Period
The Contest begins August 01, 2018 at 8 a.m. PDT and ends on October 15, 2018 at 5:00 PM PST (the Contest Period).
Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.
3. How to Enter
Each entrant must provide a rough painted, sketched or drawn concept (i.e., stick figures and/or fully detailed artwork are accepted) for the Media Production Van.
Each entry must include the following information to be a qualified entry:
- Name of person submitting entry
- Snail-Mail address
- Email address
- Phone number
An entrant, who is an employee of the Sponsor or the judges’ panel, must disclose the relationship between the entrant and the Sponsor, or the judges’ panel before the entrant may post an entry with a written statement attached to the entry.
An entrant, who is a minor, must identify the minority status of the entrant, upon the submission of an entry, and provide a parent’s or a legal guardian’s written consent to the minor’s participation in the “It’s a Wrap” Design Concept Contest with the entry.

5. Agree to Appear for PR Event and Photo
Anyone who enters this contest agrees to participate in photo and newsworthy activities, as appropriate.
6. Selection Process
On or about October 15, 2018, the Sponsor’s panel of professional graphic artists will select potential winners who meet the criteria stated in the Design Concept Criteria stated above. An entry will be judged by the following five criteria: (1) How well it showcases the MidPen Media Center mission; (2) The quality of the idea (including design idea, creativity and originality); (3) Visual storytelling; (4) Graphic considerations in wrapping the Mobile Studio Truck and (5) potential commercial viability.
The Panel may determine that drawings from more than one entry would complement each other to create a more graphically appealing visual design. If so, it is possible for more than one winner to be selected. Winner(s) shall be announced in October 2018.

8. Community Engagement Goals
The goals of the Media Production Van “It’s a Wrap” Concept Design Contest are threefold: (1) stimulate the creative juices of the community; (2) encourage the community to engage with their local access TV Station (3) bring awareness of the new mobile media truck and all it has to offer the community.
“It’s a Wrap” Concept Design Contest is sponsored by the MidPen Media Center in Palo Alto, California to help design the graphics for the shiny new Media Van that will serve the communities of Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, Stanford and Menlo Park.
10. Entrant’s Agreement to Official Contest Rules
Participation in the Contest constitutes entrants full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these official Contest Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Contest Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.
11. Applicable Laws
The “It’s a Wrap” Concept Design Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
