Take a stroll down Midpen Media Center’s colorful hallway to view 12 new paintings by Los Gatos artists Ans Bekkers-Waardijk and Phyllis Carlson on display through September.
Amsterdam born Ans Bekkers-Waardijk has been painting for over 30 years. She took private art classes with Barbara Clark and says, “Barbara has been the most inspiring art teacher in my life as she helped me on my journey to paint freely.” Being able to express her “emotions” on canvas is the most exciting part of painting for Ans. Her artwork has been shown at the Los Gatos Museum.
Painting has been a creative release for Phyllis Carlson for the past 20 years. Phyllis says, “Artists like Jen Norton and Mike Daily rocked my creative world with their workshops and encouragement.” She enjoys using watercolor, mixed media and acrylics to create paintings. Phyllis works as an independent college counselor and says, “I balance my work with rowing and bike riding with my friends who keep me young.”
