Will robots and computers replace medical doctors in the future? Uli K. Chettipally, MD and Chief Technology Officer at CREST Network, doesn’t think so. Dr. Chettipally tells “Future Talk” host Martin Wasserman that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will aid doctors, not replace them. AI technology helps doctors by combing databases with thousands of diagnostic test results and image scans, to look for patterns and treatment results. Doctors use the well-researched information when making treatment decisions. Dr. Chettipally also foresees AI being able to do the paperwork, charting and insurance reimbursement tasks doctors are currently overloaded with. AI will help doctors get back to doing what they do best: Giving healthy doses of empathy to their patients, the irreplaceable human touch.
