Pilgrim Baptist Church young adult performers shared their love of God on a recent episode of “Artist Expression” through dance and poetry. Show host and producer Alma Love spoke with the dancers between performances to find out about them and what they enjoy about dancing. The five dancers used symbolic movement and dance choreography set to contemporary gospel music to visualize uplifting messages. The performances featured a dance solo, duo, and trio. Two of the dancers, Justine Caulton and Adesia Cotton also read poems they wrote which touched on their life experience and the topic of black excellence. Before the last dance of the show, Terry McDowell, the artistic director of Praise Dance Ministry in Hayward, CA, spoke a little about the ministry program. She works with youth and young adults to help them find ways to praise God in artistic ways.
