Today is International Women’s Day – a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8th to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women around the world. As a team of more than 80% women leaders, issues of gender equality, representation, reproductive rights, and women’s opportunities to participate and make a change within their community are very important to us. As an organization, we are committed to elevating the voices of women and celebrating their accomplishments. We believe that when women lift their voices, others listen and begin to make positive changes that affect entire communities. Whether their steps are small or large, every bit builds on the collective power of women to tell their stories, change their circumstances, and advance our society.
#ChooseToChallenge is the theme for International Women’s Day 2021, and we are deeply proud of the women in our community who challenge us to think big – whether it be through a public access program, a statement addressed to local government officials, or a Facebook post. We truly believe that the women who use their creative energy to inspire and empower our local community are persisting with the same good fight that women like Barbara Walters, Malala Yousafzai, Michelle Obama, and Jacinda Ardern have undertaken in the interest of brilliant women everywhere.
