Local Heroes 2019 Awards Screening & Reception – September 28, 2019

Please join us for a reception and screening of Midpen Media Center’s 13th Annual Local Hero Awards, honoring the six winners, who have overcome significant hardship or made outstanding contributions to the community. Celebrate these unsung heroes and hear their inspiring stories!

For almost 20 years, BOB ROSENBERG has served as team captain for Rebuilding Together Peninsula, a volunteer non-profit which repairs and refurbishes homes of low-income residents.

As Director of Adolescent Counseling Services, PHILIPPE REY brings his own personal struggles to his work with Mid-Peninsula young people.

As College Bound Director at the Boys and Girls Club, JAIME BARAJAS knows just about every challenge facing immigrant high schoolers and turns his insider knowledge to mentoring local youth.

SHERI SOBRATO BRISSON left the fast-track corporate world to create a book, a non-profit and now an electronic game for children facing serious illness.

Girls to Women is East Palo Alto’s only girl-centered youth program; it was created by PATRICIA FOSTER, a tireless public official and advocate for her community.

Since becoming a quadriplegic almost 40 years ago, LAURA BARTON has transformed unthinkable tragedy into a life of meaning and service.

Midpen Media Center Studio, Saturday, September 28, 2019, 7-9 pm.
