Welcome to the world of television producing. By producing your own show, your voice can be heard. Shows you make in our studio will be distributed on our cable channels, and we’ll put them on our website. Shows you make belong to you, so you’re welcome to post them on your own website or blog or distribute them in any other way you like.
In our studio, you’ll get lots of support from our staff and from our trained volunteers, and you’ll get high quality results at a very low cost.
The kinds of shows that local producers have recorded in our studio include:
To produce a show in our studio, you must be at least 16 years old (certain exceptions apply), your production must be noncommercial, and you must allow us to air your show on our community cable channels and put it on the website.
For the best studio rental rates, you must live or work in our service area (Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Atherton, & Stanford), or be making a show on behalf of an organization with members in our service area. We have somewhat higher rates for community producers that don’t meet these criteria.
If you have never seen our facility, consider coming to a Meet the Media Center session.
Contact the Studio Productions Manager for a meeting. Call 650-494-8686 and tell whoever answers the phone that you want to be a producer! If the robot answers, you want extension 18. Alternatively, contact us electronically.
Miscellaneous Useful information
There are usually two production slots on Monday through Friday evenings, one from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM and one from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Once you’ve met with our Studio Manager, you’ll be able to reserve a time slot in our studio.
It takes six to twelve people to make a studio program depending on its complexity. You can recruit a volunteer crew from a list of volunteers who have completed our training workshop. If you have friends who want to help as crew, check out the studio crew volunteers page.
