We are excited to welcome Nicole McClain to our staff as Director of Development. The newly-created position focuses on planning and coordinating Midpen Media’s fundraising activities. McClain will build a formal development program that includes the formation of major gifts and annual fund programs. She will look for ways to share our appreciation with donors and inspire a culture of giving around community and service.
McClain’s prior fundraising experience has distinctly prepared her for this role. As principal fundraiser with Literacy for Environmental Justice, McClain launched a major gifts program and set up the framework for long term financial planning. She also worked with several Bay Area nonprofits like TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, California Summer Music, and TheatreFIRST to form strategic fundraising plans and seek qualified donor prospects.
“My background in fundraising in the arts is a perfect segue into working with Midpen Media as the ethos and values of both are closely related,” says McClain
Many of the nonprofits McClain previously worked with supported children’s creativity introducing them to fun activities within the arts. “Along with outstanding fundraising and grant writing chops, Nicole brings with her a strong affinity for the communities we serve and for empowering youth, which is a big part of what we do with our summer camps and MC Sports activities,” says Keri Stokstad, ED/CEO of Midpen Media.
McClain has a Master of Arts Management from H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy & Management at Carnegie Mellon University. In her time off, McClain enjoys volunteering and sharing her wealth of knowledge with organizations like the Red Poppy Art House, Fremont Opera, and the Grand Theatre Center in Tracy, CA.
