Approval of Consent Calendar

A. Certificated Personnel Items: It is recommended the Board approve the certificated personnel items as presented.

B. Classified Personnel Items: It is recommended the Board approve the classified personnel items as presented.

C. Approval of Minutes for April 20, 2021, Regular Board Meeting: It is recommended the Board approve the minutes for April 20, 2021, Regular Board Meeting.

D. Approval of Purchase Orders: It is recommended the Board approve the requisitions and purchase orders as presented.

E. Authorization to Purchase Secondary School Desks: It is recommended the Board authorize staff to purchase new secondary desks and chairs in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000.

F. Sale of Surplus Classroom Desks: It is recommended the Board declare the items as surplus to future operations of the District and direct the surplus items be sold by auction, donation, or disposal.

G. Authorization to Extend Contract for Pool Chemicals: It is recommended the Board authorize a one-year contract extension with Lincoln Aquatics. This would extend the agreement term until June 30, 2022.

H. Annual Request to Submit an Application for Consolidated Categorical Aid: It is recommended the Board approve the request to submit an application for Consolidated Categorical Aid, Part I, when it is released by the California Department of Education.

I. AP Biology and AP Environmental Science Textbook Adoptions: It is recommended the Board adopt the materials listed below for AP Biology and AP Environmental Science.

J. Middle School English Literature Adoption: It is recommended the Board adopt the materials listed below for grades six and seven.

K. Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) Contract for 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24, Resolution No. 2020-21.10: It is recommended the Board approve renewal of the DOR contract with PAUSD and approve Resolution No. 2020-21-10.

L. Board Policy (BP) 6179 Supplemental Instruction: It is recommended the Board approve BP 6179 Supplemental Instruction.

M. Board Policy (BP) 5113.2 Work Permits: It is recommended the Board approve BP 5113.2 Work Permits.

N. Board Policy (BP) 3600 Consultants: It is recommended the Board approve BP 3600 Consultants.

O. Board Policy (BP) 3452 Student Activity Funds: It is recommended the Board approve BP 3452 Student Activity Funds.

P. Board Policy (BP) 7210 Facilities Financing: It is recommended the Board approve BP 7210 Facilities Financing.

Q. Board Policy (BP) 3110 Transfer of Funds: It is recommended the Board approve BP 3110 Transfer of Funds.

 

 

Action Items

A. Recommendations Regarding Elementary School Bond Projects: It is recommended the Board: 1) Authorize staff to move forward with the Hoover Elementary School project, 2) Authorize staff to move forward with the El Carmelo Elementary School project, and 3) Direct staff to pause the design of the Walter Hays Elementary School project.

 

 

B. Award of a Contract for the Construction of the Parking Improvements Project at Gunn High School. It is recommended the Board: 1) Authorize award of a contract for construction of the Parking Improvements project at Gunn High School to Redgwick Construction Co., in the amount of $1,398,200, and 2) Authorize the Superintendent or his designee to approve change orders in an amount not to exceed 10% of the contract, or $139,820.

A. Resolution No. 2020-21.11 Requesting Board of Supervisors of Santa Clara County to Establish Tax Rate for Measure A Bonds of Palo Alto Unified School District Expected to Be Sold During Fiscal Year 2021-22, and Authorizing Necessary Actions in Connection Therewith: It is recommended the Board discuss approving Resolution No. 2020-21.11.

B. Resolution No. 2020-21.12 Requesting Board of Supervisors of Santa Clara County to Establish Tax Rate for Measure Z Bonds of Palo Alto Unified School District Expected to Be Sold During Fiscal Year 2021-22, and Authorizing Necessary Actions in Connection Therewith: It is recommended the Board discuss approving Resolution No. 2020-21.12.

 

 

C. Expanded Learning Opportunities Grant Plan (CA Assembly Bill 86): It is recommended the Board review the Expanded Learning Opportunities Grant Plan.

 

 

D. Classroom Technology Refresh Project: It is recommended the Board authorize staff to solicit bids for the classroom technology refresh project.

 

 

E. Tentative Agreement with Palo Alto Educators Association (PAEA): It is recommended the Board discuss the Tentative Agreement with PAEA.

 

 

F. Proposal to Open Negotiations with Palo Alto Educators Association (PAEA) for the Successor Agreement to the 2018-21 Collective Bargaining Agreement: It is recommended the Board discuss the proposal to open negotiations with PAEA for the Successor Agreement to the 2018-21 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

 

 

G. Proposal to Open Negotiations with California School Employees Association (CSEA) Chapter 301 for the Successor Agreement to the 2018-21 Collective Bargaining Agreement: It is recommended the Board discuss the proposal to open negotiations with CSEA for the Successor Agreement to the 2018-21 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
