Approval of Consent Calendar

A. Certificated Personnel Items: It is recommended the Board approve the certificated personnel items as presented.

B. Classified Personnel Items: It is recommended the Board approve the classified personnel items as presented.

C. Summer School Short-Term Personnel Items: It is recommended the Board approve the certificated and classified summer school short-term personnel items as presented.

D. Approval of Minutes for May 24, 2022, Regular Board Meeting: It is recommended the Board approve the minutes for May 24, 2022, Regular Board Meeting.

E. Approval of May Purchase Orders: It is recommended the Board approve the purchase orders as presented.

F. Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the City of Palo Alto to Grant an Easement for the Churchill Avenue Enhanced Bikeway Project: It is recommended the Board approve the MOU between the Palo Alto Unified School District (District) and the City of Palo Alto (City) in relation to the City’s desire for the District to grant an easement for the Churchill Avenue Enhanced Bikeway Project.

G. Legal Services Firms: It is recommended the Board approve renewing legal services agreements with the five firms chosen by the RFP selection committee.

H. Lease Agreement Between the District and the City of Palo Alto for Extended Daycare Spaces Offered Through Palo Alto Community Child Care (PACCC) and Kids Choice: It is recommended the Board approve the attached lease agreement.

I. Agreement with Palo Alto Community Child Care (PACCC): It is recommended the Board approve the agreement with PACCC for 2022-23.

J. Sale/Disposal of Surplus Instructional Materials: It is recommended the Board: 1) Declare the items as surplus to future operations of the District, and 2) Direct that the surplus items are disposed of by sale, donation, or disposal.

K. Authorization to Award a Contract for Improvements to Buildings A and B at Cubberley: It is recommended the Board authorize staff to award a contract for Cubberley to Century Electric for $142,920 and authorize the Superintendent or his designee to approve change orders in an amount not to exceed 10% of the contract, or $14,292.

L. Authorization to Award a Contract for Repairs to the Pool at Greene Middle School: It is recommended the Board authorize staff to award a contract to Western Water Features for $1,626,955 and authorize the Superintendent or his designee to approve change orders in an amount not to exceed 10% of the contract, or $162,696.

M. Authorization to Award Contract for the Gunn High School All-Gender Locker Room Project: It is recommended the Board authorize staff to award a contract for the Gunn High School all-gender locker room project to Selway Construction for $167,292 and authorize the Superintendent or his designee to approve change orders in an amount not to exceed 10% of the contract, or $16,729.

N. Expanded Learning Opportunities and Service Agreement for the 2022-23 School Year: It is recommended the Board: 1) Approve the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) Plan for the 2022-23 school year; and 2) Approve the proposed Services Agreement between PAUSD and Right At School, LLC to administer the ELO-P Plan requirements and general child care services in the 2022-23 school year.

O. Textbook Adoption for AP Physics C. It is recommended the Board adopt Physics for Scientists and Engineers, Serway, 10th Student Edition, by Cengage/National Geographic Learning for AP Physics C.

P. Textbook Adoption for Conceptual Physics and Physics: It is recommended the Board adopt Experience Physics, by Savvas, for Conceptual Physics and Physics.

A. Remote Public Comment: The Board shall discuss public comment options for public meetings. The discussion may include, but is not limited to: remote public comments, location of public comments on the agenda, consolidation of public comments, AB 361 procedures, and other related topics.

 

 

B. PUBLIC HEARING: Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) Annual Update: The Board will conduct a public hearing on this item prior to discussion on the agenda on the 2022-23 LCAP, which includes the Local Education Agency (LEA) budget and budget overview for parents.

 

 

C. PUBLIC HEARING: Proposed PAUSD Budget for 2022-23: Resolution No. 2021-22.12 Year-End Budget Transfer Authorization for 2021-22; Resolution No. 2021-22.13 Budget Transfer Authority for 2022-23; Resolution No. 2021-22.14 Interfund Borrowing for 2022-23; Resolution No. 2021-22.15 for Committing Funds – General Fund: The Board will conduct a public hearing on this item prior to discussion on the agenda. Following the public hearing, it is recommended the Board: 1) Adopt the 2022-23 Budget as presented, 2) Approve Resolution No. 2021-22.12 Budget Transfer Authority for 2021-22, 3) Approve Resolution No. 2021-22.13 Budget Transfer Authority for 2022-23, 4) Approve Resolution No. 2021-22.14 Interfund Borrowing for 2022-23, and 5) Approve Resolution No. 2021-22.15 Committing Funds – General Fund.

 

 

D. Authorization to Award Contracts for Inspection Services for Fletcher Middle School Career Technology Education (CTE) Classroom Building Project: It is recommended the Board award the following contracts: 1) Construction Inspection Services (CIS) Building Inspections Inc. to provide an Inspector of Record (IOR) services, 2) Ninyo & Moore for materials testing and special inspection services, and 3) Cornerstone Earth Group for geotechnical inspection and observation services.

 

 

E. Authorization to Award Contracts for Inspection Services for the Palo Verde Elementary School Project. It is recommended the Board award the following contracts: 1) Construction Inspection Services (CIS) Building Inspections Inc. to provide Inspector of Record (IOR) services, 2) Construction Testing Services (CTS) for materials testing and special inspection services, and 3) Cornerstone Earth Group for geotechnical inspection and observation services.

 

 

F. Authorization to Contract fs3|Hodges for 2022-23 for Program Management Services for the Measure A and Measure Z Bonds: It is recommended the Board authorize staff to enter a contract with fs3|Hodges to continue bond program management services for 2022-23 for $1,471,764.
