Racial & Social Injustice in America Roundtable

From Board President Less Lincoln

The past couple of months have seen a resurgence in Black Lives Matter protests and calls for racial and social justice around the world. In light of this and as part of our service to the community, Midpen Media facilitated a virtual public roundtable entitled “Racial & Social Injustice in America” on July 1st to allow the community to share its thoughts on what is happening in America today and what actions are needed.

The thought-provoking conversation was moderated by Stanford University Associate Professor Allyson Hobbs, U.S. History Professor and Chair of the African and African-American Studies Program, and Rev. Kaloma Smith, Chair of the Palo Alto Human Relations Commission and Pastor of University AME Zion Church of Palo Alto. A panel of distinguished civic leaders and community activists joined the conversation to provide historical perspective and commentary on recent actions. Though we know that this is only a first step on a long journey toward confronting and actively dismantling the racism and implicit bias deeply rooted within our country, Midpen Media is honored to have provided a safe and supportive space for members of this community to share their reactions and experiences and to begin imagining a new way forward
