What’s shown on screen and who’s controlling the messaging off-screen creates our reality, if we let it. WeXL, an incubator supporting diverse creative talent, recently filmed its new show “Represent” at the Midpen Media Center with WeXL founder Arabella DeLucco at the helm. The show examines issues the media perpetuates and how those issues directly affect people’s lives.
The premier episode of Represent explores the topic, “Getting a Mentally Fit Body Image” with the show’s three female co-hosts and their guests. The ladies identified body image issues they struggle with stemming from the media: needing to be physically pleasant to the eye, casting agents looking for slim actresses and stigma against plus sized models. The hosts and guests discuss healthy ways to overcome these obstacles while remembering everyone is different.
Represent will premiere on Facebook Sunday Dec 30th at 5:30 p.m. and an hour later on YouTube at 6:30 p.m. DeLucco will be hosting a live chat on each platform during the show’s release. View the show any time online after the premiere date and check back for monthly episodes.
